When I began my YouTube channel in 2015, I started taking pictures of the products I was reviewing in order to have a thumbnail for my videos.
Once my channel started gaining traction, brands started asking me if they could pay me for the pictures I was taking for my YouTube channel. Shortly after, I began doing freelance commissioned photos for brands to use on their websites and social media.
While I'm admittedly new to portrait photography, I've applied the knowledge and skills I've gained through product photography and videography and managed to capture some pretty cool shots.
Many people think of retouching and editing as a necessary evil to photography, but I personally enjoy it even more than taking the pictures themselves. The process of taking out something that shouldn't be in the photo or adding in something that wasn't initially there is, to me, an exciting challenge.
